Sebastian Inlet Surf & Sport is announcing an event to benefit the For the Girls Scholarship Fund, Inc., during October’s National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. ChicaFest — For The Girls! Is scheduled for October 15, 2022 and is a Celebration of Women’s Music & Surfing.
Beneficiary For The Girls is the non-profit arm of the Melbourne medical practice Doctor of Women’s Health and specializes in helping breast cancer patients meet post-treatment challenges through physical and occupational therapy, necessary compression garments and financial needs.
ChicaFest kicks off at 2:30 pm with a ‘Free Surf’ for women and girls surfing or SUP surfing in a non-competitive open session for surfers of all ages and ability levels. ‘Head Chicas' Amy Houseknecht & Sophia Pickett and 2019 World Champion Stand Up Paddle racer Seychelle Webster will lead the one hour session and then follow it up with a Meet & Greet on the front porch.
The action then shifts to the stage behind the shop for an evening of music by women solo artists or women-led bands. Food trucks and beverages will be open starting at 3:30 with the music kicking off at 4:00 pm. Scheduled acts include Miz Behaving, Alesandra’s Family Band, JERZI, The Groove Kids, Nikki Sanford and Kally O’Mally. There will also be entertainment from belly dancers, fire spinning and troupe dancing.
